  • James Lalla's Testimony

One blessed evening while searching the web for Christian music I found your site. I remembered a voice saying “JEM Radio around the world we go” and sweet music followed. Since then I am locked on, love it and blessed by the music where God has been the center of attraction.

It has become one of my favorite site and during my illness a guiding light to the human spirit. I thank God for you and your powerful ministry.

I hope and pray that this testimony would be a source of joy and strength to all of your listeners in Jesus name.

I was born in Trinidad and now reside in Canada. I am a born again Christian.

My walk with the Lord began when I married a beautiful Jamaican girl who led me to the Lord.  Soon afterward, I became involved in music ministry by singing in the church choir.  I had a good job, a devoted and loving wife, and three beautiful children.  Life was good.

Then on August 12th 2006, my life began to crumble. I suffered a major stroke that paralyzed my right side. It affected my speech and memory and I could not walk or talk properly.

While I was recovering, God revealed the plans He had for me.  Songs I had never heard before with the lyrics, music and arrangements began to play repeatedly in my mind while I slept at night.  Through divine inspiration, the vision of making a CD to give God the glory was born.  However, there were two obstacles that I had to overcome.  I was going through intense physical and speech therapy and I did not know how to read or write music.  I was a self-taught singer who knew only two basic chords on the guitar.  Despite these obstacles, I knew that I needed to obey God’s calling and by faith, trust that he would give me the strength and knowledge to complete His mission.  I taught myself how to play more chords on the guitar.  As each song was given to me, I rehearsed and later recorded them from memory.

As plans were being made to finish the CD, another unthinkable event occurred.  At 8:20 am on September 13th 2007, I collapsed with a severe heart attack.  It was a painful experience.  There were tears in my eyes as I struggled to find the energy and strength to fight the fierce battle against the forces of death. As I was gasping for my last breath a miracle happened, the spirit of the Lord touched me and with His power saved me.

I went through physical therapy once again.  However, I was determined to serve the Lord in obedience.  I did not want to let these obstacles get in the way of accomplishing God’s plan.  When all of the songs were recorded, I received a vision to title the CD “I Follow The Cross”.

God had a plan.  He used the pain and suffering I endured and turned it into something beautiful.  I hope that this album with its unique mix of Caribbean music will help all to see the light of Jesus.

As for me, I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary and thank God for what He has done for me.  Today, I am singing the praises of the Lord.  I am lifting my hands, raising my voice and making a joyful noise as I “Jump for Jesus” and continue to “Follow the Cross”.  God bless you all.

Sincerely in Christ,

Jimmy Lalla
